Healthy weight management

If you are carrying some excess weight you are certainly not alone and we are here to help you achieve a healthier weight and waist line. Even a 5% weight reduction can dramatically reduce your risk factors for stroke, diabetes and heart disease. A healthier weight can also lower your cancer risk too.

The focus is always on healthy habits that can be maintained for a lifetime. It may involve increasing your awareness of what you are eating with a food diary, understanding portion size, healthier choices, mindfulness, addressing your alcohol intake and reviewing your opportunities for exercise.

When it comes to patterns of weight gain, it often happens in small amounts However, even little bits can add up. Just gaining one or two kilos a year for 5 years can gradually tip you into a less healthy weight range. It is important to also review the big picture and understand what factors are involved with weight gain. Emotional eating, stress, boredom, alcohol intake, sleep patterns and social events all play a role.

Our weight management approach is based on healthy lifestyle interventions. These include dietary advice, stress management, exercise advice and referral to other health/ allied professionals as needed.
