Medical hypnotherapy

At East Sydney Doctors we offer medical hypnotherapy to help you manage a variety of medical issues . Hypnosis has been used effectively by doctors and psychologists to assist patients to make healthier changes . Most sessions with begin with a counselling component to establish goals. A guided relaxation often is done at the beginning of the session too , to help you become more calm and relaxed which allows you to focus your attention more easily. Once you are in this relaxed, focused state, you are more receptive to taking on board positive messages or suggestions for change. These may help you achieve a goal or they may be used to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. Regular practice is often needed to get the full benefit of self-hypnosis.

Hypnosis has been used successfully in many areas of health including

  • Pain management
  • Quit smoking
  • Dentistry
  • Pregnancy and childbirth
  • Anxiety, Depression and phobia management
  • To help manage addictions
  • For relaxation therapy
  • To boost performance in sports events, exams or public speaking.
  • To build self confidence and a sense of control over your life.
  • To treat insomnia
  • To stop unwanted habits like nail biting

If you would like to enquire about Medical Hypnosis please speak to one of our friendly receptionists. Prior to commencing treatment, it is important to book a long appointment with the treating doctor who has been trained in hypnotherapy to discuss whether hypnosis is appropriate. Multiple sessions are usually required to consolidate new healthy behavioural changes. Please note that all hypnosis appointments are charged privately. A Medicare rebate may be available.
